I did my first bridge deck since being on my own yesterday. I have always been a little reluctant to chase Bridge work due to the size of the "RISK" involved and only having one machine. Interesting enough a company I work for bought a company that builds bridges. They called me for a small 200 yard deck placement. It was a great introduction and confidence builder. Everything went smooth.

i chase all the bridge decks i can get my hands on. love them for sure though the mud can be a bit difficult to pump sometimes depending on the supplier. some suppliers have it together when mixing and can get that initial slump up there and still keep their water cement ratio in order so we can pump it. some just add the chemicals to it regardless of the initial slump to get their allowable slump and plug me right up. it they start with a good 3 and mix it throughly i can pump it every time. mix designs for the state bridges around here seem to be 50% slag, loosing 50% cement and adding more big stone to make strength. less cement of course makes it much harder to pump. cement being the lube right? Well bud, have fun with the bridges and if you're ever in a bind sometime and need a second pump on site, give me a ring.

If you're not having fun you shouldn't be doing it.
